Welcome!

I AM READY TO HELP YOU.

Life can be challenging and offers opportunities for growth and learning, including improved communication, more clearly delineated boundaries, and a deeper understanding of ourselves and others.

My goal is to provide an environment of trust and safety, encouraging deep exploration and fostering insight. The intention is to allow you to create new personal boundaries and increase your ability to listen, understand, and engage with others in an increasingly meaningful and satisfying way.

When we are more clear about our thoughts and feelings, we are more able to create relationships with healthier boundaries and engage in behavior that supports our identity. This increased emotional competency fosters clearer communication, deeper connection and increased life satisfaction.

Areas of Focus

LGBTQ COMPETENT

As a gay man, I pay attention to the experiences of and needs of those in the LGBTQ community. I have served through my work at Seattle Counseling Service, Wellspring’s BIPOC/LGBTQ clinic, and I continue this work in my private practice.

Multiple relationship systems/poly supportive

Working with the LGBTQ and BIPOC communities, I have also had the great opportunity to work with varying and non-traditional relationship systems. I continue my curiosity and openness to understand everyone’s unique way of connecting.

Self-esteem and identity issues

Many of us are challenged with self-esteem issues, from time to time, or chronically. I work to help clients address factors that contribute to feelings of inadequacy as well as increasing identification and acknowledgement of times when they felt good or competent. Understanding both offers powerful insight with which to create personal goals and reprogram negative automatic thought patterns.

Processing Trauma

As every individual is unique, so is our trauma experience. Whatever your experience, we can work together to create a space that fosters exploration and find a safe way for you to begin to look at and process the things that feel so scary or overwhelming. Beyond emotional catharsis and a sense of closure lies opportunity and potential to adjust behavior patterns to allow for deeper connection and attachment.

Depression and Anxiety

Depression and anxiety can be debilitating and immobilizing. We can create a plan, using your strengths that will help you engage in your life in a more satisfying way.

Miscommunication and disconnection

We all struggle to communicate from time to time. Looking at how we were conditioned growing up, we can assess and strengthen inherent skills while identifying and adopting new skills that that increase our ability to be more clear, connected and engaged with others.

Relationship conflict

While relationship conflict is a naturally occurring event, there are times when it escalates and feels out of control. It is critical that you give each other space when arguments are beginning to get out of control. This is the turning point at which you take the space to regulate your own emotions and avoid a fight. We will explore in therapy how to engage in improved communication and healthier conflict resolution, allowing for emotional coregulation, mutual understanding, and healthier attachment.

Boundaries & Self Care

Taking care of ourselves is the first step to overall wellness. Self-care can be a broad term that
defines anything we do in the process of meeting our own needs and taking care of our spirit, emotions and body. Boundaries are a prominent aspect of self-care, and are a result of being clear
about who we are and what we need to flourish. Being clear about boundaries allows us to make concise decisions about our own life direction. It is from a foundation of good self-care and healthy,
flexible boundaries that we are able to connect with and care for others, which cultivates life
satisfaction as well as deep and meaningful relationships.
